Interactive whiteboard manufacturer Promethean has unveiled what it describes as its new generation of whiteboard technology, the Activboard+2, pictured here being used in Bramcote Lorne School, Retford in Nottingham, by Anne Gould and her class. The integrated short-throw (1 metre) projector is fixed to the board by a metal arm and the pairing is height-adjustable.

Projector manufacturer Sanyo has provided a secure model, the XE40. It is bright orange and features a remote control, without which it can’t be operated. Promethean says that the key advantages are: being able to move the board up and down when needed; no longer requiring a ceiling mount for the projector; no longer needing calibration; less glare and shadow for teachers; improved security features; and reduced installation time. The system also includes Promethean’s Activprimary or Activstudio software, a set of speakers, an amplifier and, as an optional extra, a wall-mounted lockable cage for the projector for added security.

Prices range from pound;2,495 for the 64-inch version to pound;2,695 for the 78-inch. Promethean claims that this should save schools money when compared to buying a separately sourced interactive whiteboardprojector system. www.promethean.comuk
