LOOPHOLES in the law could allow another Amy Gehring to slip through the child protection net, headteachers have warned. The Canadian supply teacher was cleared of indecently assaulting 15-year-old pupils, but later admitted sleeping with a 16-year-old.
Schools, employment agencies and local education authorities need urgent further guidance if similar cases are to be avoided, says the National Association of Head Teachers in a letter to Education Secretary Estelle Morris.
