A new touring service will provide support to school leavers.
Young Scot Extra, an information service for young people, launched “Crossroads Cafe” with an event at Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal last Saturday. Crossroads Cafe will move around the country in the new year, although venues and dates have yet to be fixed.
Organisers say the cafes will provide a “relaxed and informal setting for young people to talk through their options for the future”, with advice on issues such as employment, housing and health.
Young Scot started its “Extra” initiative earlier this year, aimed specifically at young people who have left school. It came at a time when the Citizens Advice Bureau recorded a record number of calls from people under 25 seeking help with debt, benefits, housing and employment.
