Pupils and parents have a more positive view of the quality of schools than the general public, government research shows. The study found only 14 per cent of the public thought secondaries were very good, compared with 26 per of secondary pupils’ parents and 32 per cent of pupils. For primaries, 21 per cent of the public, 39 per cent of parents and 40 per cent of pupils agreed. It also found differences in perceptions of bullying. While 80 per cent of the general public saw bullying as a major problem, only 21 per cent of parents and 16 per cent of 10- to 19- year-olds agreed.
