Rumours are said to be rife in Glasgow over a possible change in name of John Paul Academy to St Benedict’s, now that John Paul II is no more.
Opened as John Paul in 1982, as the papal helicopter whirred over on its way to Bellahouston Park and the largest gathering of the faithful seen in Scotland, the school needs to polish up its image by moving into the new era.
Happily, St Benedict is up for grabs, as it has only ever been used as the name of a now-closed primary school.
