Pupil-teacher affairs: the facts

We write to condemn your serious misreporting of Dr Pat Sikes’s work in “Dangerous liaisons in class” (TES, November 11).

We note that she did not say that an “erotic charge” was an aid to teaching. nor did she defend “pupil-teacher” affairs.

She acknowledged that such affairs did happen occasionally and offered empirical evidence.

We are dismayed at The TES’s sensationalism.
