The case study in your piece on restless pupils in the summer heat (TES magazine, June 29) inaccurately stated that Westminster Council will no longer pay for industrial fans and air conditioning.

The council has in fact recognised the need for ways to reduce the temperature and has looked into installing vents to air-condition the building. However, due to the forthcoming demolition of the building this was not deemed feasible. I can also confirm that Pimlico school has recently purchased 60 new free-standing fans for its classrooms. Additionally, new blinds have been purchased to ensure that as many windows as possible are covered to reduce the amount of heat entering the classroom via the sunlight.

Pimlico school is currently undergoing redevelopment and Westminster Council welcomes input on the design of the school from the public, parents and teachers.
