Children are carrying as much as #163;300 of expensive electronic equipment in their schoolbags, according to a survey. Almost 60 per cent carry “gadgets” to lessons every day. Around 40 per cent of 11-year-olds and 60 per cent of 12-year-olds have a mobile phone. Other popular “gizmos” were iPods, MP3 players and game consoles. The YouGov research was commissioned by the Tesco for Schools Clubs initiative.
