Pupils win web case

A court in Germany has ruled that schoolchildren may rate their teachers online, rejecting the case of a woman who argued that her pupils had infringed her rights by giving her poor grades. The German Federal Court of Justice found that she had not been compromised by the ratings on the popular site spickmich.de, and that pupils had a right to offer opinions that did not hinder her professionally. The ruling follows criticism by teachers’ unions in the UK and the United States of Rate My Teacher, a similar website.
