HABITATS ACTION PACK. RSPB Education. pound;10 (plus 90p postage).
Environmental resources examined by Janette Wolf
Wheatears and woodlarks, heather and gorse, rabbits and sand lizards are all to be found in the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds’ ideal heathland environment.
This splendid rural idyll is depicted in all its purple glory on one of four A-l posters, which show how natural habitats are under threat from human activity. The others in the series are farmland, wetland, hills and mountains.
The posters form part of a Habitats Action Pack for seven to 11-year-olds. This has been specifically designed to suit the following elements of the science curriculum: life processes and living things; adaptation, feeding relationships and environmental change. The posters are bright, clearly and engagingly illustrated and although they won’t stand up to too much wear and tear, they will look wonderful on the classroom walls.
