Put full stop to apostrophe misuse

I’m wondering if The TES could launch a campaign about stray apostrophes. I can cope with Safeway getting it wrong (“Cheesy Wotsit’s”). They withdrew sandwich boards from outside all stores within 20 minutes of having it pointed it out! I can even cope with Tesco getting it wrong in video’s, CD’s, DVD’s and 1,000‘s. They Tipp-Exed these out - not ideal but better than noting.

But I’m really surprised when The TES (June 1) has an advertisement opposite the letters page for PC’s and requests in the back of the jobs section for NQT’s. Maybe all sign-writers, editors and advertisers should have to take the Teacher Training Agency literacy test.
