The violent collapse of Albania’s pyramid investment schemes followed closely on a visit by Bart McGettrick, principal of St Andrew’s College. The Bearsden rumour is that McGettrick triggered the crisis by raising funds for his cash-strapped institution at a time when there was no slack in the Albanian economy. Enterprise can be a risky watchword, east and west.
