It is not often one feels sorry for the powers that be but Ioan Morgan’s astonishing volte-face in accepting the top job of the new FE improvement body and then changing his mind (New quango boss backs out, FE Focus March 7) is a blow well below the belt. Mr Morgan repeatedly justifies his about-turn on the basis that he had not signed a contract.
Do verbal agreements count for so little these days?
