Clarendon College, Nottingham, is trumpeting its success after securing 11 grade 1s (the highest level), six grade 2s and two grade 3s. Inspectors from the Further Education Funding Council described the college, one of the largest in the country with 30,000 students, as a “dynamic and forward-looking institution”.
Meanwhile another inspection report out this week reveals Exeter College earned seven top grades, with no score lower than a grade 2. The college is well-managed and governed, according to inspectors.
The success of both colleges comes after Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies gained nine out of a possible 13 grade 1s. Latest FEFC figures reveal the proportion of top and bottom grades has stayed remarkably consistent since it began inspecting in 1993. Grade 1s have made up 9 per cent of all grades given.
