A question of class, not aspiration

Your "social attitudes" article ("By the numbers", 16 December) seems to confuse issues of class with personal aspiration. What the research appears to demonstrate is that private school-educated individuals develop high levels of aspiration and self-belief.

I think that it would be wrong to conclude that aspiration is the preserve of the middle class.
