In an opinion piece (“Don’t stay cocooned”, TES Cymru, April 7), it was stated that inspection agency Estyn plans to enforce race equality and diversity education across all schools in Wales. This is incorrect. Estyn routinely examines schools’ race equality policies during inspections but, contrary to a previous report (“Schools face race law crackdown”, TES Cymru, February 17), it has not been asked to inspect the race equality policies of 200 schools as part of a wider review. The Commission for Racial Equality has said it may serve enforcement notices on those schools where policies fail to come up to scratch.
