Toothless dogs that have seen neither hide gnaw hair of a tasty bone for years can thank a clever student for getting to grips with their problem.

Rachel Gilbert, 17, of Castle College, Sheffield, has invented false canines for canines that could become a commercial success. She is pictured here with a set of gnashers to fit a large hound. The idea also suits cats.

Rachel, who is studying a Btec National diploma in animal management, level 3 (A-level equivalent), said: “When animal teeth are broken or rotten, they traditionally have them removed, which reduces their quality of life. We have researched whether the false teeth would be viable, and some vets and business people already love the idea.”
