The biggest shake-up in Northern Ireland’s schools curriculum in a decade was announced this week.

Education minister Barry Gardiner has unveiled plans to tailor teaching towards preparing pupils for their working lives.The radical proposals will affect both primary and secondary pupils from 2006, and require teachers to undergo retraining.
