Ranking ignores special needs data

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/ranking-ignores-special-needs-data
Thank you for publishing the “key stage 2 results for England” (TES, January 30).

However, the Press Association’s “rankings” appear to have ignored entirely the number of pupils with special educational needs in the local authority, and this renders the rankings valueless.

Also, it might have been more fair and informative for schools if your results had shown the number of pupils with special educational needs in the cohort instead of the whole school. This would give the readers a clearer picture of the differences in problems from school to school, and present a slightly less superficial display of the data provided.

Could the reports be more informative next year?
