US Education Secretary Arne Duncan has said that the achievement of American students "is not growing fast enough", following a report on reading by the National Assessment of Educational Progress. It showed that progress in reading among fourth-graders (age nine and ten) and eighth- graders (age 13 and 14) had barely improved in 2009 compared with 2007.
