THIS year’s English tests for 14-year-olds have been unjustly criticised, according to some teachers. Debate continues to rage about the revamped key stage 3 tests, which many found confusing. But Peter Gray, a KS3 English consultant working in 12 Leeds schools, said he was impressed by the reading paper. He said: “No doubt there will be grumblings from the ‘resist all change’ faction... but as a test of achievement at the end of KS3, I think they have moved us on considerably.”
