The Office for Standards in Education is to publish a report on school reception classes in the New Year.
Chris Woodhead, chief inspector for schools, told the Commons Educaion Select Committee the report would examine whether four-year-olds were getting the right quality of teaching.
“There is a danger if we have very young four-year-olds alongside older children, it is very difficult for any one teacher to give the education the child deserves.”
MPs are conducting an inquiry into the implementation of the Government’s nursery voucher scheme.
