May I correct a comment attributed to me (TES, March 14) in relation to the Office for Standards in Education’s report on Calderdale? I did not say: “I don’t see how there could be any objections to the conclusions reached”. What I said was that I could see no objection to the report’s recommendations. Can anyone? These suggest that the LEA should do a number of things which need doing and are being done by others.
I added that, to my knowledge, the report’s recommendations had not, how shall I say, been given an orders-from-on-high tweak at any stage before publication.
