The NUT is to campaign against the deportation of an African refugee family. The Nanga family from north London has been told it must return to Angola, where the father fears for his life.

Sisters Mansanga and Feliciana Nanga told the conference of the effect the threat of deportation was having on them - and on their school work.

Their father has been arrested pending deportation proceedings and they face court next month.

“This is like our home now - there is no future back there. If we go back our education will be destroyed. We are desperate for your help,” they told delegates.
