The Government continued its series of skills announcements this week, unveiling a Pounds 3 million plan to create 100 new apprentices in the life sciences. The initiative was revealed by First Minister Alex Salmond in Dundee, at the start of the Cabinet’s summer tour of Scotland. He was visiting the state-of-the-art laboratories at Dundee College used by life sciences students. The apprenticeships will be a “two for one” deal, in which companies will be encouraged to take on two apprentices with the Government paying the full salary costs of the second recruit.
