A celebration of spring, with Maypole dancing - predates Christianity and is bound up with fertility and rebirth. In 1889 the Socialist International dedicated this day to the workers, still celebrated in many countries.
MAY 2 Yo Ha-Shoah A Jewish event commemorating the Holocaust victims.
MAY 17 VaishakhaWesak (Buddhist) Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death are all supposed to have happened on this day. Wesak lanterns are lit, and greetings cards exchanged.
