Horace Iles enlisted in the British Army at the beginning of First World War, aged 14. Two years later he was dead, killed on the first day of the battle of the Somme. His body lay in the mud for another year. The CD-Rom One Boy tells his story, letting his brief life and abrupt death represent countless others. Using archive film of recruitment, fighting and burial, and backed by sombre factual commentary and extracts from his sister’s letters, it makes a very effective presentation for Remembrance Day. The CD has been distributed to secondary schools and is produced by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Tel: 01628 507109www.cwgc.org
