A reading initiative is helping vulnerable children in Renfrewshire, Scotland, to confront difficult emotions such as fear, loneliness and jealousy.
The joint initiative by the Renfrewshire Child Protection Committee and the council’s library service uses 69 top children’s titles from the Good Books for Tough Times reading list. The books, aimed at five to eight-year-olds, will be located in specially designated areas in all local and mobile libraries. They can be used by parents and teachers to tackle topics such as divorce, bereavement and bullying. DM.
