Education computer supplier Research Machines is tapping into the growing interest in the Internet system of international computer networks by setting itself up as a service provider with its Internet for Learning. Its prompt response to demand has been rewarded by attracting 300 subscribers since the service was announced at the BETT technology show in January.

For Pounds 25 schools can get a connection and the software they need for Research Machines and IBM-compatible, Apple Mac or Acorn computers. The subscription is Pounds 10 a month and RM will offer local connection in eight areas by the end of May. RM sells Internet-ready PCs with modem, software and a year’s subscription for Pounds 1,219.

RM also has its own site on the World Wide Web (address: rmplc.co.uk) from which Web surfers can pick up useful links for the curriculum. And schools and colleges can put up their own information pages on RM’s Eduweb, free of charge (contribute via email at eduweb@rmplc.co.uk).

RM, New Mill House, 183 Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 4SE. Tel: 01235 826000.
