The “striking disparity” in the achievements of Northern Ireland pupils (TES, August 31) is doubtless due to a skilled teaching force and an aspirant student population, but they may also be helped by the best learning resources provision in state schools in the UK. Our surveys show that NI schools consistently spend about twice as much as schools in England, generally on a par with that available to pupils in private schools.
