What is it all about?
Cancertalk Week, run by Macmillan Cancer Support, is a time to raise awareness in schools about different types of cancer and its effects. It is also a time to promote fundraising for cancer support and research.
Classroom ideas
Arrange a discussion about cancer with pupils through an interactive whiteboard presentation so that they can learn the facts about cancer and how it affects so many people and their families. Do they know anyone who has had cancer? Ask them to share their experiences. You could arrange whole-school fundraising activities such as a non-uniform day for cancer awareness or ask pupils to donate #163;1 to a local cancer charity or hospice.
