Former education, lifelong learning and skills minister Jane Davidson comfortably regained her Pontypridd seat for Labour with a majority of more than 3,000 over her nearest rival, the Lib Dems. Until a government is formed it is not yet known whether Ms Davidson will continue her seven-year reign over the education portfolio.
Former education spokespersons William Graham (Conservative), Janet Ryder (Plaid Cymru) and Peter Black (Lib Dem) were also re-elected on the regional lists.
