SIR Rhodes Boyson’s autobiography (“Where are they now?”, TES, April 27) was written when he was still an MP. I speak with some authority - I reviewed it for Free Life magazine. I remember observing that he was “pleasant enough ... sense of humour ... seems to want to turn Britain as a whole into a grand-scale version of Highbury Grove school”.

I must alo admit to being cynical about his accounts of life at Highbury Grove on principle - the last person one should ask for an honest, objective account of a school is the head. That applies to progressive ones just as much.

Perhaps he should have been an actor - various Dickens roles spring to mind.
