I BELIEVE there was an error in the “Treasury to vet PFI bids” article (TES, October 30), as you cite “Wigston” as one of the five colleges in the further education sector that have signed Private Finance Initiative projects.

In fact, this college - Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I - signed such a contract some time ago. The deal to create a sports complex is a “pathfinder project”. The complex is due to be opened to college students and the local community in January 1999, with the official opening ceremony in February.

Wigston College is a quite distinct college. Incidentally, are we the only sixth-form college to have signed a PFI contract?
