It’s should always be remembered that many of the benefits we now enjoy had to be fought for. A CD-Rom from the Manchester-based People’s History Museum introduces children at key stage 2 and above to some of the men and women who took part in the struggle. These Living History characters can also be met at the museum itself. Their stories cover the fight for the vote for working people during the 19th century, the growth of trade union rights in the aftermath of the industrial revolution and 20th century campaigns for women and for immigrants in Britain. The CD-Rom from the People’s History Museum is being distributed free to schools in the Greater Manchester area. Tel: 0161 839 6061 Email: info@peopleshistorymuseum.org.uk
