Rise in hostility to privatisation

Nine out of 10 people oppose the use of private firms to run schools, according to a survey.

The research for Unison showed that in the past few years opposition to private-sector involvement in public services has increased. Dave Prentis, the union’s general secretary, said: “The public don’t want private companies making money out of the sick and elderly, or out of our children’s education.”
