Why?

Charlotte Haylock has been at West View for about five years. She started at the school on the Fast Track scheme and is now a valued member of the five-strong leadership team. She is an ambitious school leader, keen to progress to headship and is completing NPQH.

As one of three assistant headteachers, Charlotte’s responsibility is “deep learning”, where she focuses on what constitutes good learning and reviews mentoring and coaching programmes for staff and pupils.

She is very committed to the school and a fast learner, keen to explore and experiment with innovative teaching methods. For example, she has led a school literacy initiative on single-sex teaching methods. She also encourages teaching evaluation by pupils where children run feedback sessions with teachers on how they have understood the subject content.

Charlotte has also conducted research into how to strengthen teaching methods at the school. She spent some time in Melbourne, Australia, last year conducting research into the education systems of schools overseas.

She is extrovert and well liked by the children and her colleagues.
