My letter published on May 14 was so severely edited that it lost both its main point and its integrity. My criticism for the confusion over RE and collective worship was not of David Bell, as my letter purported to say, but of your correspondents in the article (Ministers may axe collective prayers, TES, April 23). It was there that unnecessary and ill-informed references were made to RE and to the row about the national framework, spuriously manufactured by the media.
