A record entry of 88 teams will take part in this season’s Scottish Schools Rugby Cup competition, which has secured another three-year sponsorship deal with Bell Lawrie White.

For the first time a school outwith the mainland - Anderson High in Shetland - has entered the tournament. They first face Gordonstoun, who are also newcomers.

Cup holders Dollar Academy have 10 players from last year’s squad and will be one of the favourites to win.

“With 88 schools on board, the continuation of the schools bowl competition and the popular plate event, schools the breadth of Scotland have the chance to play in our flagship tournaments,” says Colin Thomson, the Scottish Rugby Union’s age-grade development manager.
