Scotland rugby coach Frank Hadden this week started a nationwide tour aimed at updating schools and club coaches on the Scottish Rugby Union’s vision for the future.

Hadden is taking five sessions, speaking about his coaching philosophy and a Scottish style of play. The first was at Galashiels; the next will be at Highland RFC in Inverness on Monday and thereafter at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh on September 6, Cartha Queen’s Park RFC, Glasgow on September 11 and Panmure RFC, Dundee on September 18.

“These sessions are largely about communication,” he says. “It’s important to me that every coach in the country knows what we seek to achieve with the national team.”

This summer, Ayrshire rugby lost one of its stalwarts when Brian Gilbert died. Gilbert, 61, was a former principal teacher of physical education at Marr College in Troon and coached at Kilmarnock, Ardrossan and Dalry.
