More than 200 boys and girls from 16 secondary schools attended last week’s Ford Foundation rugby festival at Stirling County rugby club.

The Ford motor company has contributed pound;150,000 to a three-year rugby programme which provides coaching resources and equipment to Scottish schools and involes more than 40,000 children aged seven to 11.

Bill Murray, chief executive of the Scottish Rugby Union, explained: “The junior players of today are the international players of tomorrow, so it is essential that we provide them with all the support and encouragement we possibly can.”
