Safe at work?

While the debate continues on school security and the funding of safety measures, may I draw the attention of colleagues to their new pay and conditions document, page 49, paragraph 34.19.

The implication of this paragraph is that it is the duty of local authorities to make arrangements for “security and effective supervision of the school buildings”, unless they require, in writing, their headteachers to undertake this task.

I would suggest that colleagues check whether their individual authorities have laid this burden upon them. If not, they must lobby for sufficient funding to minimise the impact of these dreadful attacks.
