A new Child Safety Education Coalition has been set up to promote high-quality practical safety education in England. It is made up of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau and funded through a Pounds 1.6 million grant from the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

The coalition wants to increase opportunities for children and young people to learn how to avoid or cope with dangerous situations, through initiatives such as practical safety education centres that provide scenarios such as smoke-filled rooms.
