Somebody somewhere keeps putting spanners in the works for the organisers of the annual conference of modern language teachers.

Last weekend’s meeting of the Scottish Association of Language Teaching in Stirling confidently expected the Mulgrew report on modern languages to have been published by now, and invited John Mulgrew to reveal all. Unfortunately, it isnot yet out and he could only tantalise the audience.

Last year Frank Pignatelli, former director in Strathclyde, had been due to tell all about the UK Nuffield inquiry into modern languages but he had to shut up too pending publication.

SALT had also expected some new 5-14 documents this year. You’ve guessed it - they have not appeared either.
