Save and Prosper’s involvement in education is channelled through its educational trust. The trust supports several key areas relating to education, and one such area concerns support this year for a summer school aimed at raising standards in literacy among pupils at a school in neighbouring Harold Hill. Harold Hill is in Havering, where Save and Prosper has an administration and call centre.

The scheme, which will take place at Broadford Primary school, is aimed at key stage one and two students, whose standards for literacy do not meet the UK average. In five morning sessions the chilren will cover work in line with the Government’s literacy hour strategy and the pupils are expected to benefit from the extra time concentrated on reading practice. At the end of the scheme, during a sixth session, it is intended that the pupils will all be taken out to a local book shop where they will each be given a free book to take away to read.To support this project further the Basic Skills Agency has become involved with the aim of encouraging parents to read with their children.
