Mayday, the international maritime distress signal, is also the name of a pack that introduces nine to 12-year-olds to the work of coastguards and lifeboat crews in helping those who, like hundreds of young people every year, get into trouble in or near water. Twelve coloured cards act as a stimulus for discussion about dozens of topics, from the shipping forecast to sea rescues. A great interactive CD-Rom adds more information and investigation, culminating in a realistic round-Britain yacht race.

Mayday is produced by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and can be ordered via Mail Marketing.
