If names such as Wensleydale and Caerphilly set your stomach rumbling, you will want to try some of the ideas in Say Cheese, a design and technology pack for key stage 2. A 30-page booklet contains plenty of lesson plans and photocopiable worksheets. Children can design a pizza topping or a marathon sandwich, or investigate types of packaging (foil, wax, plastic) or methods of marketing. They might also make a pop-up book to explain where cheese comes from, helped by the accompanying CD-Rom which features film of the manufacturing process, both industrial and domestic.
