He focuses on the designer as part of a team, emphasising relations with director, stage manager and stage crew. Naturalistic, stylised, surreal and spectacular settings are given due consideration. There are also many explanations of the procedure for achieving consistent and orkable designs, with a number of drawings and photographs that can be printed from the screen. Final chapters on workshops and safety specifications, computer-assisted design and a glossary from acoustics to zoom profile complete a useful resource.
