This week saw the adaptation of Bill Forsyth’s film Gregory’s Girl on stage at St Joseph’s Academy, East Ayrshire. Adapted by English teacher Andrew Bethell, the story of adolescent passion reached way beyond the drama department. A partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University’s department of digital media design led to a promotional DVD and a theme song composed by pupils. The students are also working with the GCU to exploit the educational benefits of DVD technology.

Drama is offered at the school from Standard grade to Advanced Higher. The senior company (S4-S6) performs at professional venues. It has toured three times since 2001.

A junior company was established two years ago for young talent in S3 and S4.
