Less than two days left to enter the TES Schools Awards

Time is running out to enter the 2014 TES Schools Awards, with less than two days left before entries close at the end of tomorrow.

There are 17 gongs up for grabs, recognising the schools, teams and individual teachers whose hard work has made a real difference to the lives of their students.

Individual awards include the flagship Inspirational Teacher of the Year, Lifetime Achievement and Headteacher of the Year titles, while team awards are also on offer in areas such as science, humanities, maths, English, sports and healthy eating, as well as the use of education technology.

The awards for primary and secondary of the year are also likely to be keenly fought. Last year, George Eliot Primary School in St John’s Wood, north-west London, was named both primary of the year and overall outstanding school of the year.

Head Beatrix Simpson said the recognition was like a “golden stamp” for the school’s staff and pupils.

“We put a table out at the front of the school so parents could see and touch the awards,” she said. “They were happy and proud of the school’s achievements and felt they had played a part in it. We also got lots of publicity locally and it was great to see people taking such an interest in what we had done.”

Ann Mroz, editor of TES, said: “We know there is fantastic work being done by teachers up and down the country. This is our chance to help you share those successes and give you some of the recognition that you richly deserve.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 4 July at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London.

The deadline for entries is midnight tomorrow. For more information on the awards and how to enter, visit www.tesawards.co.uk. All entries must be via the website.
